Fencing Victoria is excited to announce that we will be holding a free refereeing course on Sunday 16 June 2024 at the State Fencing Centre in North Melbourne. All members will be able to participate if they are over the age of 15. Fencers under 15 years’ old will be able to participate in the course, but will not be able to referee in Victoria until their 15^th birthday. The course will run from 9 AM until approximately 3 PM, depending on which weapons members wish to learn.

The course will cover the rules of Fencing, specific sessions on each of the three weapons, as well as developing skills in fault finding and conflict management.

To register, please use the link on the Fencing Victoria website. Once you have registered, please email our Referee Coordinator, Jenny Shaw, at dta1@fencingvictoria.org to inform her which weapons you wish to referee. If you are unable to register through the website, please also email Jenny at the above address.

Once they complete the refereeing course, members will then need to be practically assessed, which entails refereeing at a Fencing Victoria competition. Once assessed and approved, members will be eligible to referee Fencing Victoria competitions, for which they will be paid.
