Affiliation with Fencing Victoria entitles members to numerous benefits and opportunities not available to non-affiliated fencers. These include Fencing Victoria competitions, state squads and other training camps and courses.
Fencing Victoria Full Affiliation includes AFF affiliation, allowing members to participate in national camps and competitions. The main categories for fencers are:
Senior Full Affiliation – 21+ (in the year of affiliation) Eligible to fence in all National and State Open and B-Grade competitions
Junior Full Affiliation – U20 – Eligible to fence in all National and State Open and B-Grade Competitions (If they fulfill other B-Grade requirements)
Club/School Membership – Eligible to fence in any competitions except for National and State Level (Category 1 Competitions)
To be eligible to fence in a novice event, a fencer must satisfy the following criteria: they have less than two years registration as a fencer, or they were under 13 years of age on 1 January of the current year. Novice eligibility ceases immediately in the case that a fencer finishes in the top 50% of a FV Open Competition or competes in any AFF Competition or wins the State Novice Competition or State Novice rankings.
* Novice competitions are now separated into Under and Over 16 events. Where there are insufficient Novice Junior fencers, they will be offered the opportunity to fence in the Novice Senior event. Where there are insufficient Novice Senior fencers, they will be offered the opportunity to fence in the B-Grade event.
Please note that a pre-requisite to affiliation is a fully paid-up club membership.
